To freeze or not to freeze, that is the question

Added to the list of (minor) van problems we have accumulated on this trip is now the fridge/freezer has packed in! So everything that has thawed is being cooked and the remaining frozen stuff is now buried in the snow until the morning, or until some wild animal gets a nose for it.
