After doing our first site on Oland we had to go 60 miles north to supposedly 'the largest site in Sweden' in the pouring rain, in what is supposed to be the driest area of Sweden! As we had to return down the same road as soon as we had done it, we decided to make the journey more interesting by counting the number of old windmills which the island is known for, 39 in 60 miles kept us amused, it doesn't take much when you get to our age. On the return journey there were 37 (???). Oh well, back on the mainland and north again to the next site for the night.
Oland in numbers: 6 - kms of Sweden's longest bridge from Kalmar
350 - number of windmills on the island
88 - miles long
10 - miles wide at widest point
Sweden's longest bridge
One of the 39 (or was it 37?)
It's not all glamour being an ARSE (Alan Rogers Site Evaluator) in the driest part of Sweden!
Rachel getting more of the Baltic than planned
"Left a bit dear"
"A little more"
"Perfect"!
