A peaceful night on the outskirts of Odense only interrupted by the crows morning chorus after which they must've decided that our van roof looked like a good place for a dance!

HCA or so the story goes.
South and East which means we need to cross water as we head (eventually) to Sweden. We depart Jutland, the bit that we all know that sticks up, and take the relatively small bridge across to Middlefart on the island of Funen, we didn't break off there, just continued to Odense. We've heard of Odense, but until today didn't realise it was the birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen, or as he's better known in these parts, HCA. We found a deserted car park near the city centre and as we struggled to understand the signs a kind gentleman came over and explained that we were fine to park here for free so long as we could squeeze the van into a parking bay, done! Another example of how lovely the people are over here :-). We wandered into the centre and stumbled across footprints on the pavement left by somebody who had left their shoes in a tin of paint. Great idea for tourists, more towns should do it (see video).
